Notice of selection for jury service

You have been randomly selected from the Victorian Electoral roll for jury service. You must complete a Jury Eligibility Form, which will determine whether you are able to do jury service. It is easier and quicker to complete the form online. We must receive your response within 14 days. If you are able to serve on a jury, you will be sent a summons for a specific date.

What do I need to do now?

Even if you can't do jury service, you must complete the Jury Eligibility Form. If you can't complete the form online, you must complete the document enclosed in the letter received via regular mail. Once you have submitted the form, you do not need to do anything else.

If you ask to be excused or have your jury service deferred, we will contact you.

What if I can't do Jury Service?

We understand that you may not be available for jury service. If this is the case you must tell us why in the Jury Eligibility Form. Your reason must be valid.
If you are excused on this occasion, you will not be selected again for jury service for at least twelve months. You may never be selected again.

In particular circumstances you can ask to be permanently excused. Further information about applying to be excused is included in the Jury Eligibility Form.

What happens after I have completed the form?

If you are able to do jury service you will be sent a summons.

You will receive the summons at least 2 weeks before the date you need to attend.

If your personal details change after you have completed the Jury Eligibility Form, you can update them on your personal details page. Alternatively you can contact this office.
